At first I was very nervous to travel a whole day to reach across the globe but at the same time I was also excited to learn and experience another country and the host university I was set at. Croatia was wonderful and an invaluable experience.
I spent 3 weeks in Croatia studying The Ethical and Business Impacts of Artificial Intelligence: Today and in the Future at Algebra University College. All the staff of the host university were so warm, welcoming and supportive of not only our educational experience but our cultural experience of the country such as their food and places to visit. They were very accommodating and at first wanted to get to know us some more in order to adapt their teaching and content to our different knowledge levels of the topic.
All our lecturers were industry professionals making the learning experience relevant, current and practical. There was a strong practical focus of the business applications and ethical implications of artificial intelligent technologies and how we could design a product or solution that can be implemented into our everyday lives. Throughout the program they continued to ask how we were, if we wanted they to focus on certain aspects of artificial intelligence more than others to suit our interests. They even went above and beyond to organise more weekend trips and day outs for us to see and experience Croatia, its food, festivals and iconic places.
We had a whole city tour of the capitol city Zagreb, visited the coast for the Rijeka festival and played in snow at Plitvice lakes.
